The recession of the Chilean economy at the beginning of the decade of the 80s hit strongly the company, however, manages to overcome the crisis years.
After the purchase of shares, businessman Ricardo Claro Valdés and the German chemist, Hans Hanke, took control of the company.
Thanks to the commercial opening of Chile and the incorporation of new products, the export business is opened to other countries. During that year the company exports up to 25 tons of copper oxychloride to Colombia.
The company begins to produce Acoidal, an inorganic product formulated based on sulfur. Because there was no dryer, the sun was used in the summer months to dry these products on the roofs. Subsequently, in 1958 the first dryer was built.
It all started in a small factory that produced copper sulphate in the district of San Miguel, in Santiago. In 1951, after several structural changes, Quimetal Industrial S.A. Officially started its activities in Chile.
